Four suspects, one viral secret: Chunkz and AJ play detective for JD Sports
The Beta Squad pair's return to the Who Did It? format passed 50,000 views in twelve hours, ahead of everything else the retailer's channel posted this week.
Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 75,975 views a day, 31 times a normal first day on this channel (2,450).
CHUNKZ & AJ GUESS WHO DID IT?
JD Sports has a hit. Twelve hours after it went up, "CHUNKZ & AJ GUESS WHO DID IT?" had passed 50,000 views. That puts it on course for roughly thirty times the channel's usual first day for a video of this kind, and it is already ahead of every other upload of the week.
The premise is simple. Chunkz and AJ Shabeel, two members of the London YouTube group Beta Squad, sit across from four suspects. Over three rounds they try to work out which one really went viral. The description calls it a return of the format, and the comments read like a jury room. Several viewers say one suspect gave the game away the moment he produced a pair of glasses as evidence, and that they kept watching anyway. Another contestant gets credit for lying smoothly and less credit for the proof that came with it. A few people ask for more episodes, and a popular running joke says Beta Squad turns up everywhere except their own channel.
The retailer's channel calls itself the home of Chunkz, AJ and the Bov Boys, and it had a crowded week. Chunkz and AJ took on a team of nine-year-olds in a generational quiz. Chunkz ran the questions for the third season of Nine Lives. Angry Ginge's Bov Boys joined the JD team and went to Boston for England against Ghana. Each of those found a few thousand viewers. A short from the same day, "Chunkz did him dirty 🤣", followed at a distance, which leaves this week's detective work to Chunkz and AJ.
