Mr. Bean or Hagrid? Howard Lee gives Rowan Atkinson more and more hair
An August pencil short built on his hair-count idea has viewers naming lookalikes, from Jason Momoa's Aquaman to a Harry Potter giant.
Why this story? The video is running at 23,279 views a day, 8.3 times its usual pace (2,820).

Howard Lee's hair-count shorts run on a simple idea: one famous face, one pencil, and a little more hair each time. As we reported here, MrBeast recently got the treatment. Rowan Atkinson had his turn back in August.
"Draw Hair Styles!" is billed in its description as an easy pencil tutorial with the Mr. Bean star, and for most of its life it moved quietly, at a few thousand views a day. It is now drawing more than 20,000 a day, while the channel as a whole runs below its usual pace.
The comment section sorts the versions by how many hairs went into them, and the arguments follow. Several viewers say the 1,000-hair Atkinson looks the most natural, and one makes the case for the sparse ten-hair version. The fullest versions get recast entirely: the bushiest reminds people of Jason Momoa's Aquaman, and a joke that swaps Mr. Bean for Hagrid has its own following. The most liked comment simply plays on how close "hair styles" sits to Harry Styles. A few people are there for the sound, comparing the scratch of the pencil to ASMR.
This is a long way from the work Lee built his name on: hyperrealist drawings and illusions in Prismacolor, Copic marker and pastel on grey board. The shorts keep the pencil and drop the hours. The same format has handed Keanu Reeves a set of John Wick haircuts, and his newest uploads include a video-game Wolverine and a $1 vs $300 strawberry and orange. His "Who is this?" guessing short from September has passed a million views.
