"Absolute tension and fury!" - Liverpool welcome Man City | Football Weekly
The conversation has moved toward the pitch, though the Manchester City case remains close by. Guardian Football's newest Football Weekly preview considers City's visit to Anfield, while a separate press-conference Short carries Enzo Maresca's insistence that he trusts the club. The Guardian reports that City have appealed the independent commission's financial-rules verdict and deny wrongdoing.
Those two uploads are drawing the channel's most daily views right now. Across the nine videos posted this week, however, Jonathan Wilson's earlier discussion with Max Rushden, Barry Glendenning and Robyn Cowen has the largest total audience, reaching roughly 64,000 views.
International football supplied a different set of questions. Thomas Tuchel discussed England's recovery after the World Cup, following a 7-0 win over Croatia. Two Football Weekly clips examined Cristiano Ronaldo's Portugal future, with Lucy Ward and John Brewin joining the later discussion about aging gracefully and Lionel Messi's international farewell.
The channel added about a thousand subscribers over the week, although today's viewing is well below its usual daily pace. Nearby football channels The Athletic FC Podcast and Stephen Howson collected substantially more weekly views. For Guardian Football, the freshest attention is on the Anfield preview and Maresca's response.
