Google's space-computing moonshot gives its basketball week a cosmic backdrop

Two new uploads spotlight A'ja Wilson and astronomical scale, while Project Suncatcher explores powering machine learning in orbit.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

Guess who’s #1 ... again 🏆Guess who’s #1 ... again 🏆

A'ja Wilson and a supermassive black hole make an unusual pairing, even for Google's wide-ranging channel. Its two new uploads move from a basketball celebration to a question about just how big space is.

"Guess who's #1 ... again 🏆" drew the larger audience, reaching about 44,000 views. The brief company-made promotion celebrates Wilson through a Google Search feature. The Las Vegas Aces star gives an otherwise space-heavy selection a decidedly earthbound point of focus.

"How big is space really? 🤔" sits close behind. It uses the black hole TON 618 to introduce cosmic scale, again in a promotional video for Search. But the channel's strongest viewing momentum belongs to a different kind of space question: could machine learning run up there?

"Google's latest moonshot to put machine learning in space" has reached about 1.8 million views. The Project Suncatcher introduction explores Google's proposal to harness sunlight in orbit, including how satellites carrying its computing hardware would communicate. It presents an engineering ambition, not an operating space-based computing service.

Across the channel, daily views are roughly two-fifths above their usual pace, while subscribers remained unchanged over the week. Fireship and Duolingo each drew more weekly views; Google's total was close to Kevin Stratvert's.

For a less orbital detour, the Lucas Museum episode of Searching For remains active too. Senior Curator Ryan Linkof connects visual storytelling with questions about imagination, love and found family, spanning fine art and comic books.
