Garron lands in New York: 'First time in America' and a welcome party in the comments

The trip video passed 600,000 views in under two days, a week after the Irish channel crossed a million subscribers.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

Garron Noone has finally made it across the Atlantic. "First time in America" went up on Friday and drew more than 460,000 views in its first day, far more than anything else he posted this week, and the comment section reads like an arrivals hall. The most liked replies welcome him to New York, which several viewers say just got a bit more delicious, a nod to his favorite word.

The moment people keep bringing up is his take on Times Square, which he likened to a computer with no antivirus and pop-up ads everywhere. Others are already planning his itinerary: Boston, where he would meet plenty of people who say they are Irish too, Minnesota's northern woods, the eateries of the outer boroughs. A few want him to try his American accent on the locals. And one Irish reader suspects he will come home with notions.

Before the flight, the week stayed firmly at home. "Mythical Irish Locations" walked through the folklore viewers asked for, from a hunting lodge where the devil was said to play cards to a sacred bush a motorway was rerouted around, and Garron confessed a 75-year sporting curse of his own, recently lifted. A short follow-up, "KISS THE IRISH STONE," questions the hygiene of leaning backwards off a castle to kiss a rock, and is doing well for a clip. Both are tied to his podcast, Parts Un-Noone.

The channel, which passed a million subscribers as we reported here, added about 11,000 more over the week, and its views are running ahead of its usual pace. Among similar comedy channels, only Mike and Joelle gathered more views in seven days, while Olga Manassyan and ToneFrance were close behind and Toby Stubbs had a quieter stretch.
