Jared Polin gives APS-C another look, and old prints a future
New Tamron and Sigma zooms join a Canon scanner review in a three-upload week.

- 1:52Polin explains his full-frame buying advice and cautions against crop lenses when planning an upgrade.

- 5:44Polin discusses Getty Images' reported prepackaged Chapter 11 filing and plans to go private.
The lens matters, too. Jared Polin's busiest new upload, "I WAS WRONG About APS-C…", gives smaller-sensor cameras a fresh look through new zooms from Tamron and Sigma. It has drawn roughly 78,000 views, the largest audience among his three releases this week.
The title sounds like a surrender, but his explanation is more practical. Polin says lower full-frame prices shaped his buying advice, while cautioning against buying crop-sensor lenses if an upgrade is already the plan. Then comes the useful distinction: "Not everyone wants to go full frame, and that's totally fine."
Tamron's 16-50mm F2.8 and Sigma's 50-120mm F2.8 give that discussion something concrete. Viewers bring their own camera bags into it: memories of Nikon's professional DX zoom, compact travel setups and affection for cameras they have no intention of replacing. The episode includes a sponsored Datacolor segment.
His newest release, "How to Scan & Digitize Your Old Photos Quickly!", turns from buying equipment to rescuing what it helped create. The Canon RS40 review covers digitizing prints, including scanning their fronts and backs together. It's currently the channel's fastest-moving video, followed by the APS-C episode and the previous week's Sony camera comparison.
Jared and Stephen also explore an Adobe Creative Cloud alternative in "Adobe Has a PROBLEM! Getty Has a BIGGER One…RAWtalk 213".
Across the channel, the week brought about half a million views and an unchanged subscriber count. Daily viewing is below its usual level. That makes the scanner review a particularly fitting addition: alongside the camera-buying discussions, there's a job for the photographs already in the drawer.

Ah, yes. I remember going all out and buying the Nikon 17-55mm f/2.8G ED-IF AF-S DX Zoom Lens, their pro-level APSC lens for my D200 back in the day. The images that old lens made were fantastic!

I’d rather shoot on a apsc, than a cellphone.
@Matthew.Tighe.photographySee it on YouTubeI've used crop sensor rf lenses on my full frame R5 m2 and still get good results.
@channel.ilevinSee it on YouTubeI'm still with m43 and I lean into it. I go the other way and shoot at f8 making everything in focus. Got some leica glass, and it looks great. I do have to compose foreground and background together, but it works great when it works. Its not 'classic' look everyone else makes.
