Robert Eggers' WERWULF, due this Christmas, passes fourteen million on Focus Features

The second trailer stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Willem Dafoe and Lily-Rose Depp, in a week otherwise given over to Jane Austen and Andrew Scott.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

Eight days after it went up, the second trailer for WERWULF has passed fourteen million views, and it is still pulling in a large crowd each day. Its description bills it as Robert Eggers' most visceral film yet, a tale of devotion, damnation and the devil within. The tags name a familiar circle: Willem Dafoe and Lily-Rose Depp, both from his Nosferatu, along with Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Ralph Ineson and the Icelandic writer Sjón, who co-wrote The Northman with Eggers.

Only one video is moving faster right now: the second Sense and Sensibility trailer, four days old and selling a fresh take on Austen with Daisy Edgar-Jones and Esmé Creed-Miles before its October 16 opening. Andrew Scott's Elsinore trailer, the true story of the actor Ian Charleson, has settled down after its huge start. Its comments are full of Scott's admirers and of people remembering Charleson as Eric Liddell in Chariots of Fire.

The channel posted eleven videos in all, including older scenes from The High Note and Lisa Frankenstein. Day to day, the pace has cooled from the trailer surges. Over the full week, though, Focus Features drew about 26 million views, more than any other studio channel near its size, and gained about 10,000 subscribers. A24, also in that group, ran at about half its usual daily pace.
