F.D Signifier is moving from the people who shape Black entertainment to the people entrusted with Black leadership. His new essay, "Fallen Idols : How Black Leaders Fail Us", has reached roughly 800,000 views since its October 14 release.
Alongside that release, the channel is drawing around 650,000 views a day, more than sixteen times its usual daily pace. That is a channel-wide jump, not a count for the new essay alone.
The subject has changed since the Tyler Perry essay we discussed earlier, but the scale of the undertaking is familiar. "Fallen Idols" runs past three hours, opening with a section asking what "Black Misleadership" means. Its chapter list moves through leadership figures and questions of accountability before reaching a section called "How Did We Get Here?" well into the essay.
That puts the new release in a different corner of a catalog whose most-watched regular upload remains "I'm What the Culture Feeling". F.D Signifier describes his channel as a home for video essays on Black movies and media; this time, the title's central question is about leadership and whom it serves.
