Things we can learn from the video
Press to jump
- 0:09The first look uses concentric stars inspired by @helena_pessoaa, though the initial stencil attempt requires a restart.
- 4:20Colored lighting changes the appearance of the completed star pattern.
- 5:28A makeup wipe tests whether the painted design can transfer as an imprint.
- 7:07Deep-pink paint, melting drips and misplaced cartoon features form the second illusion.
- 10:15Shadows and highlights add dimension to the melting face before the final lip painting.
The stencil doesn't survive. Denitslava wipes away her first attempt at a star-covered face, starts again and eventually reaches a result worth switching the lights for.
"I Tried Makeup That Doesn't Look Real" was Denitslava Makeup's only new upload this week, reaching about 540,000 views. Its first look recreates @helena_pessoaa's concentric stars, with eye makeup and glitter added before colored lighting makes the painted pattern appear to change dramatically. Partway through, Denitslava says she has already spent hours on it. The reveal is quick; getting there is anything but.
Then comes a deep-pink melting face, with dripping outlines, displaced cartoon features and shadows that give the paint dimension. She follows a look shown by @katevalentinee, while her description adds a credit discovered after filming: the melting design was inspired by deladeso's art. Denitslava ultimately chooses the stars as her favorite.
Viewers are picking up on the work between the reveals, too: the eyeliner struggle, the camera's autofocus during the extra-eyes illusion and the familiar greeting that opens her videos. One particularly observant comment points out how differently the pink paint reads in black and white.
The new upload brings a fresh experiment after last week's upload break, but older videos supply the strongest daily momentum. August's "I COULDN'T WAIT TO DO THIS 😩" remains the busiest, followed by "I SHOULD BAN THAT COLOR 😭" and "WHY DID I DO ALL THAT?! 😱".
The channel added 10,000 subscribers over the week, although its latest day's viewing is below its usual pace. Among the nearby beauty channels, Denitslava Makeup had the largest weekly view gain; Mo's Barbers is enjoying an above-usual daily audience, while Sydney Morgan is close to its customary level. For Denitslava, the archive's busy makeover experiments now have a painstaking pair of optical illusions alongside them.
