- 16:16Despite his objections, Lee calls the Duo the best foldable he has used.
Can Dave2D's favorite foldable still make him wish Apple would get out of the way? His iPhone Duo review gives a fairly clear yes: he likes the hardware, but repeatedly bumps into decisions users cannot change.
The clearest example is the vertical dock fixed to the right side of the unfolded screen. Dave Lee explains how that placement shapes the way people hold and navigate the phone, contrasting Apple's prescribed layout with the greater customization available on Samsung's Z Fold 8. "Apple forces you to use it like this because they think they know best," he says.
Unlocking adds another adjustment. There is no Face ID, so the side-mounted Touch ID sensor becomes part of the daily routine. Later, his assessment is blunt: "This is not a phone that is built for left-handed people."
That is also where viewers offer a useful counterpoint. Some left-handed commenters explain that they hold a phone in their right hand to leave their left free for tapping. Others want a mirrored interface, or object to the space occupied by the dock. The discussion is about how differently people use the same object.
Lee finds more to like in the display finish, which he says helps conceal the crease, and works through media playback, gaming, pocketability, typing and camera tests before reaching his recommendation. The review has passed a million views in its first week.
His final verdict preserves the tension rather than erasing it: "Of the foldable phones I've used, this is, I think this is the best one." Even so, he still wishes it had Face ID.

What viewers say
I’m a left handed person. I ALWAYS hold phone with my right hand so I can use the screen with my left hand. I think this phone will be perfect for that. I get mine on Friday. I will be testing this.
@AoW7See it on YouTubeI really really dislike the right bar. Every app has a chunk of unused space now. Why can’t you swipe this away?
@636formeSee it on YouTubeI thought the smudge on your table was on my screen and I could not clean it away; I had a heart attack.
