What do you think we will be for halloween?! 🎃🤭

"What do you think we will be for halloween?! 🎃🤭" asks the title, and Cadel and Mia barely leave time for a guess. Within a second they are crouched on the floor in black and white, pulling black hoods over their heads and leaning forward like birds on an ice shelf.

Then they sit up, faces held perfectly straight, and wait for the beat. At the four-second mark comes the salute: an animated cutout of the Penguins of Madagascar salutes along behind them, and cartoon penguin feet appear over their socks. Nobody says a word; the music and the editing carry the joke. Skipper's squad has four members, and the couple make do with two.

The Short passed 40 million views in its first 17 hours, a start far beyond anything their Shorts usually see on day one. It still trails the couple's "7 years of good luck" dance Shorts, the biggest of which have passed 300 million.

The comments came in about three times faster than on a usual first day, and much of the talk is about Cadel's determined attempt at a properly penguin face, and the look he wears at the very end. Not everyone accepts the answer, either: one viewer would rather see Mia as a witch and Cadel as a crab.

The costume reveal was one of several uploads from the same day to start quickly, a table game with an "illegal move" and "Who saw it?!" among them, though none came anywhere near the penguins. Two birds in hoodies did more than any of the others for a channel whose bio still names its goal: 50 million "family members."
