Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

beabadoobee - Chasing Cars (Snow Patrol cover) in the Live Lounge

The guitar starts alone. In beabadoobee's Live Lounge version of "Chasing Cars", atmospheric electric-guitar notes, backing harmonies and bowed cello gradually broaden the arrangement before it settles into a soft outro. The familiar Snow Patrol song gets room to build without losing its intimate beginning.

That performance is the most active of BBCRadio1VEVO's recent uploads, reaching roughly 1.1 million views since arriving earlier this month. There were no new releases this week, but the channel collected about 5.5 million views across its catalogue. Its daily viewing is currently around half again as high as usual, while its subscriber count was unchanged over the week.

Covers supply the other recent pockets of momentum too: Jorja Smith interpreting Olivia Dean's "A Couple Minutes", and Blossoms taking on Ashe's "Stop The Wedding!" It's a familiar Live Lounge pleasure, hearing an artist step into someone else's songbook. Harry Styles's version of Lizzo's "Juice" remains the channel's most watched regular upload, with Sabrina Carpenter's Chappell Roan cover next on that shelf.

Among nearby music channels, KEXP is also enjoying daily viewing well above its usual level, while BBC Music is close to its normal rhythm. Here, the week's defining performance needed neither a fresh upload nor an elaborate staging: beabadoobee at the microphone, acoustic guitar in hand, with the ensemble gradually filling the space around her.
