A wireless fire alarm at HQ, and Rob's rushed solar install, for Artisan Electrics

Ajax's EN54 system got the electronic-smoke test, while a loft of cable wound like a slinky gave viewers plenty to joke about.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

£100,000s of Batteries… So We Installed This£100,000s of Batteries… So We Installed This

Artisan Electrics spent the week on both sides of the trade: installing something new at its own headquarters, and pointing a camera at other people's work.

The new thing was a fire alarm with no fire alarm cable. In "£100,000s of Batteries… So We Installed This," the team fits Ajax's wireless EN54 system throughout the HQ, explains what EN54 means for commercial buildings, sets off the detectors with electronic smoke and watches the alerts arrive on a phone. The description asks the obvious question for a building full of battery storage: can something entirely wireless really meet the standard? It drew the strongest first day of the week's four uploads.

The other three are the channel's familiar genre of electrical horror. "Tight like a guitar string..." shows solar cabling coiled like a slinky and pulled taut across a loft, and its comment section turned into an improv room: a house inductor, a heating element for the attic, a loft induction loop, and one viewer's verdict that it is strain relief because at least you know exactly where the strain is. "This system comes with wildlife..." found an ants' nest and spiders living with the equipment. And "Rob's Shocking Install," barely a day old, tells of a grant-funded upgrade (panels, battery, insulation, heat pump) finished in a few hours, with wonky panels and bird protection already falling away. It is the fastest-moving video on the channel right now.

Views ran well above the channel's usual pace, close to half a million for the week, and about a thousand new subscribers arrived. Among similar DIY and home channels, only Chris Garage78 and Restoration T2 gained more views, and Chris Garage78 by a very wide margin.
