Late news, early crowd. The September 29 edition of 10's Late News drew more than 200,000 views within sixteen hours of going up, on a channel where a new upload usually opens to a few thousand.

On its first day it ran at roughly seventy times the channel's usual pace. For the news service of Network 10, which posts its bulletins as a matter of routine, that is far outside the ordinary.

The bulletin leads with the Reserve Bank of Australia raising interest rates, the kind of decision that reaches straight into mortgages and household budgets across the country. After that come reports of motorcycle jackings and a SpaceX splashdown, the latter a spaceflight story on an otherwise very Australian running order.

The title puts the rate hike first. It was also the story most likely to matter to anyone with a home loan.
