Brunch meets Pilates on Only Scrans' Yorkshire cafe visit
Fract's scallop, bacon and egg bun joins a full-menu tasting and conversations with chef Kieran and owner Brad.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
I Ate Brunch At The Most Viral Cafe In Yorkshire!
A scallop breakfast bun and a reformer Pilates studio aren't the usual cafe combination. At Fract in Yorkshire, Jonno finds both, along with a menu that stretches from brisket Benedict to apple crumble French toast.
Only Scrans posted two videos this week, and Sunday's "I Ate Brunch At The Most Viral Cafe In Yorkshire!" drew about 67,000 views in its first 20 hours. The visit puts the people behind the plates alongside the tasting: chef Kieran discusses leaving Michelin-starred kitchens for a more casual setting, while Brad describes his move from estate agency to cafe ownership. Work-life balance gets a place in the conversation, too.
There is plenty to eat between those stories. Jonno works through picanha steak and eggs, chicken and waffles, woodland mushrooms prepared KFC-style, a mortadella sandwich inspired by Anthony Bourdain's favorite, and crispy pork belly bao. In the comments, several viewers specifically discuss the emphasis on food and personal stories rather than ratings. One even imagines the unlikely possibility of a Pilates studio earning a Michelin star.
The week's other upload, "I Ate At A Struggling Family Owned Food Truck", drew a smaller audience. Meanwhile, "I Ate Scottish Breakfast At A Struggling Cafe" has passed two million views and remains a substantial daily draw. The Edinburgh food tour is also keeping busy, offering everything from a traditional breakfast to Sicilian pastries and Syrian shawarma.
Subscribers grew over the week, and Only Scrans had the largest weekly views gain among the nearby food channels, with Noah Stern close in size of viewing gain. Today's overall viewing pace is softer than the channel's usual day, but the new Fract visit is its strongest individual draw right now: an entire menu with room left for the people making it.

Loved this, and so happy to see a return to the old format. It’s the reason I watch, and sets you apart from the other food review channels.
