"Whoever it is, I want to buy them a pint." WorkTheSpace host Jack has found something worth celebrating in Football Manager 2027: summer signings finally appearing in the right season's transfer history.

It is a small fix, but a telling one in a preview built around whether the game feels right to play again. Jack's assessment has drawn roughly 94,000 views in 19 hours, well beyond the channel's usual opening-day audience. The comments are already about six times as numerous as on a typical first day.

After spending time with a preview build, Jack offers a cautiously hopeful verdict: "I think Football Manager might actually be back." His virtual career takes him from Leeds United to a relegated Aston Villa with a tycoon takeover, giving him opportunities to test more than the headline features. These are events in his game, not developments at the real clubs.

The restored flow of news and inbox updates matters to him because it makes the wider football world feel present between matches. Tactical Effectiveness, meanwhile, gives training a visible role in helping players understand the system. In the comments, viewers explore what that could mean for selection: perhaps the familiar squad player has an advantage over the glamorous new signing who is still learning the plan.

Jack isn't declaring every change a success. He questions aspects of individual training and criticizes text that remains too small across interface pages. Viewers also pick up his discussion of pressing and chance conversion, suggesting those qualities could become more useful scouting-report details.

For all the tactical possibilities, the transfer-history correction earns one of his most personal responses. More than one commenter singles out that same fix, recognizing an irritation that has survived plenty of virtual transfer windows.

What viewers say

  • They fixed the early summer transfers showing up in the last season????? INSTANT PURCHASE. I have raised that bug constantly for the last 6 years

  • The tactical effectiveness is a great inclusion. There's an incentive to pick a squad player ahead of a flashy new signing because they understand the system better, at least early on. Hopefully it actually reflects in the results and not just a thing you pretend is actually affecting gameplay
  • Good point re the “pressing” and “chance conversion”.. I’d hope they could be key points in a player report. For example when scouting a transfer, the scouts may come back with “player has work to do in his chance conversion” or “player is very effective at pressing”. Would also be included in your own player reports

  • Return of the OG WTS suit? We might actually be back
  • I played FM mobile versions for the first few years, and this year I tried the full game for FM23. It was overwhelming at first. My fear of FM 27 is that it will be even more overwhelming — so many more choices and details to track.
