Andy Burnham's conference speech fills TLDR News's four-video week

Three of the four explainers unpack the Labour speech, from housing and pensions to whether Britain could rejoin the EU, while a fourth goes to Portadown's Garvaghy Road.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

One speech, three videos. Andy Burnham's address to the Labour Party Conference gave TLDR News most of its week, and the channel took it apart piece by piece rather than all at once.

The first pass, "Burnham's Surprisingly Radical Plan for Government Explained," walks through the speech in chapters: housing, utilities, social care, pensions, electoral reform and, briefly near the end, the EU. A day earlier the channel had already asked whether he can "reindustrialise" the UK, and answered in the title itself: probably not. Then on Saturday it came back to that one short section on Europe and gave it a whole video, "Will the UK Rejoin the EU?" That newest upload is the one moving fastest by a wide margin, passing 350,000 views in under two days.

Its comment section reads like a long pub argument held mostly in good humor. One running thread is less about whether Britain wants back in and more about whether Brussels would have it, and on what terms; another counts the prime ministers since 2016. Several viewers single out the animation explaining EU tariffs.

The week's other story was older and harder. The Northern Ireland video traces the Drumcree dispute, revived when the Orange Order was allowed to march down the largely Catholic Garvaghy Road in Portadown, and explains why the DUP's accusation against First Minister Michelle O'Neill leaves power-sharing on the brink once again.

The channel's daily views ran at more than three times their usual pace, while subscribers stayed close to steady at 933,000. Among news channels of its size, Fox News Clips and BBC Politics were also busier than usual, while several broadcasters, Face the Nation among them, had a calmer week.
