'I WaNt One': the Hyundai Elantra N wins over TheTopher

His week of four reviews also took in a 1994 F-150 called Big Sexy, a night drive in a $160,900 Alpina XB7 and the very first Honda Accord.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

Smitten, and it shows. TheTopher, whose reviews are filmed from the driver's seat with binaural microphones in his ears, gave his Elantra N review a title that reads like a confession, "I WaNt One." Three days later it has close to 140,000 views and is easily the busiest of his four uploads.

The car is Hyundai's N-tuned compact sedan with the 8-speed wet dual-clutch gearbox, the version with the N Grin Shift button that adds a burst of power for 20 seconds. The chapters run from octane learning to a comparison with the Civic Type R and a spirited backroads drive. Underneath, the comments read like an owners' club. Some viewers say his 2022 review is the reason they bought one, others list the WRXs, Kona Ns and Miatas they had before, and plenty of them say they have never seen him this taken with a car. One even wonders whether the Miata in his own garage should be worried.

The rest of the week went back in time. A 1994 F-150 known as Big Sexy got a two-person drive with @TopherDrives, window sticker and all, and on Sunday he posted the first Honda Accord, a 1978 hatchback with a 68-horsepower CVCC engine that met the emissions rules of its day without a catalytic converter. That one is off to a lively start. A two-week-old look at the 2027 GMC Sierra AT4X and Denali Ultimate, now past 200,000 views, is still drawing a steady crowd too.

Views ran a little above his usual pace, with about 1.5 million for the week and subscribers barely moving. Among car channels of his size, only George J Saliba gained more views, by a very wide margin, while Real Mechanic Stuff also ran well ahead of its normal week.
