Four in four days: 'Pop Tic Tac Toe' and a girls' comeback for The Smily Fam
The boys-versus-girls round passed four million views in its first fifteen hours, and the comments keep returning to how the girls turned it around.
Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 5,133,088 views a day, 207 times a normal first day on this channel (24,845).
Pop Tic Tac Toe! Boys vs Girls
Fifteen hours after it went up, "Pop Tic Tac Toe! Boys vs Girls" had passed four million views. A new Smily Fam video usually spends its whole first day gathering about 25,000. This one is heading for roughly two hundred times that.
It is also not alone. This is the fourth day running that one of the channel's team-game videos has jumped far past its usual start, as we reported here, after a round played with the words muted, a race to a finish line and a tennis take on the same grid. Taken together, the channel is drawing about twice its usual daily views.
The game itself is the old three-in-a-row grid, with a twist the title calls "Pop" and does not explain. The comments say a lot about how it played out. The most-liked ones are about a comeback, with the girls winning a game many viewers expected them to lose. Others argue over whether the boys got fewer turns. One viewer wants to know where the toys come from, and another suggests replaying the whole thing as a tournament.
The channel did not pause to watch. Its newest uploads are hours old and still counting their first few thousand views. Among them are "Skills Relay Race Battle! Girls vs Boys," a "Fastest Reaction Wins!" round and a bro-versus-sis version of the tennis grid.
