TLC and Snow Patrol take over a musical theatre channel

Twelve uploads from the Once In A Lifetime Sessions series put 'No Scrubs' and a Glasgow origin story beside the showtunes.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

A channel built on showtunes and full Broadway and West End performances spent its week with a girl group from Atlanta and a band that started out in Scotland. Of the twelve new uploads on The Shows Must Go On!, the ones on view come from Once In A Lifetime Sessions, a series billed as exclusive performances, personal stories and studio access with music's biggest names.

TLC came first. "No Scrubs" went up twice on September 24 in short studio cuts, then a longer collection of performances followed a day later, and that is the one that found its audience: past 32,000 views and still the busiest thing on the channel. "No Scrubs" was one of the trio's defining hits from FanMail in 1999, so it is no surprise the series leans on it. "The TLC Origin Story" rounded out their part of the week.

Then Snow Patrol took over. The full episode, "From Glasgow to Greatness," arrived on September 28, with shorter pieces after it, among them how the band began and a song the title says took two years to write. That last one is only a day old and is already drawing views almost as fast as the TLC collection.

The channel as a whole is running above its usual daily pace. Among the movie and TV clip channels nearest it in size, Heavy Spoilers is having the standout stretch, close to three times its usual views, and House M.D. has doubled its own.
