"Are you serious?" asks an older woman walking up while The Lawn Tools' host mows a tiny patch of grass in the rain. By that point in "Tiny Lawn Renovation Saga," he has already tended it through a snowstorm. Her question feels reasonable.

The montage has added about 1.6 million views in a day, more than five times its usual daily pace. Posted six days ago, it compresses a whole sequence of lawn care into a patch squeezed between concrete driveway slabs.

First come mowing, edging, aerating and seeding. Then the little lawn turns vivid green against the dormant grass nearby. Rather than leave the weather to decide its fate, the host builds a custom greenhouse-style cover. When heavy snow arrives, he clears the cover, lifts it off and gives the still-green grass another cut.

This is a particularly concentrated version of the channel's stated ambition: closely mown grass with the look of a golf course. Here, that ambition gets its own miniature shelter.

Viewers keep returning to the disproportion between the tiny plot and the work lavished on it, along with memories of the covered patch in winter. Others have spotted the grass-covered Nike shoes. Even the footwear gets a lawn.
