Porch Light, October's local artist, fill The Current's studio with 'Hush' songs
The Minneapolis band that started with TikTok covers in a basement played four songs and sat down with The Local Show's Diane.

Porch Light perform four songs in The Current studio
The Current spent its week on a Minneapolis band that barely existed as a public act a little over a year ago. Porch Light, named The Local Show's artist of the month for October, came into the station's studio to play their 2025 single "Oxygen" and three songs from their debut album "Hush," released September 18 on Mom+Pop Music. Between songs, singer Jackie Uhas talks with host Diane.
The description tells the origin story: covers in a basement, then guitarist Kyle Siemon suggesting TikTok because everyone else was doing it, and from there sold-out headlining shows in New York, Los Angeles and Chicago. The session is the channel's most watched new upload, and viewers keep returning to two things: how close Uhas sounds live to the records, and Hayley Williams, whose influence Uhas confirms in the interview. Several hope Paramore will take the band on tour someday.
The station kept slicing the visit into smaller pieces, a "Paranoia" performance and a Short about Uhas singing for her kindergarten class, and those are among the channel's quickest movers too. Elsewhere, They Might Be Giants' John Linnell and John Flansburgh recorded a message for radio stations everywhere, André Cymone remembered playing the Capri Theater with Prince in 1979, and The Union featuring Phil Cook brought two songs from an Eau Claire coffee bar the morning after Eaux Claires.
Views ran a little below the channel's usual pace, around half a million for the week, with subscribers edging toward the 500,000 mark. Most music channels nearby were also under their norm; The Phantom of the Opera was the exception.

What viewers say
It’s actually insane how she’s able to produce the same vocals she has in the studio recordings. Especially for how high some parts are. Can’t wait to see them live.
