Taylor Swift Performs At The 2026 Academy Museum Gala

"It's an insane, unprecedented honor to introduce a cherished member of our little Toy Story 5 family, Taylor Swift," Conan O'Brien says, and the joke is barely out before she walks on.

What follows is a medley cut down to under two minutes. Swift, in a dark sequined strapless gown, opens "Blank Space" on acoustic guitar, hands the guitar off for a full-band "Style," then picks it up again for the chorus of "Love Story." By the end the room has its hands in the air, with a live band and backing singers behind her.

The Academy's channel usually trades in craft: its most watched Short explains how "Sinners" pulled off its twin effect, and its biggest long video is Tim Curry going through his famous roles. A pop performance is a different kind of upload, and it drew a different kind of audience. The Short passed 40,000 views in its first eight hours, while the channel's Shorts normally finish a whole first day under a thousand. A second Swift clip from the same night started almost as fast. The red-carpet Shorts posted alongside them, Kendall Jenner's entrance and Olympic champion Alysa Liu's arrival among them, stayed far quieter.

The comments, on a channel whose Shorts normally draw next to none, mostly say one thing: release the full set. One viewer compares the energy to the Eras Tour; another asks specifically to see more of Swift's band and backing vocalists.

The gala itself is a fundraiser for the Academy Museum's exhibitions, education programs and screenings. This year's honorees were Charlize Theron, John Carpenter and Colman Domingo, and for now the music is all most viewers have seen of the night.
