A JVC PC-V77, old tapes and a sleeping cat: Techmoan's personal stereo story

The meandering trip back to his teenage radio cassette sat beside an XGIMI ultra-short-throw projector he calls rather impressive.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

Among the gadget channels of his size, Techmoan is one of the quieter ones this week: most of the channels nearby, Insert Richie and Switch and Click among them, are running ahead of their usual pace, while his daily views sit a little below his own norm.

The week still had one of his more personal uploads. "My personal stereo story" is billed in its own description as intentionally meandering, and it is: Mat goes back to his old JVC PC-V77 portable stereo, the music it introduced him to (hip-hop, picked up from the radio), and what is actually on the tapes he recorded back then. It passed 240,000 views in a week.

The comments are a small party of their own. Many viewers are talking about the cat, who held the good chair until it didn't, and whom one viewer would happily see more of even asleep. North West listeners guessed the far-off station before he named it, Key 103, and the show, Stu Allan's, and a few who knew the late DJ shared memories of him. Another viewer dug out the same model, bought in 1989, and found it still works.

Then, back to the new. The XGIMI Aura 3 Max, a 4K 120Hz ultra-short-throw home cinema projector, got an early look under the verdict "Rather impressive," with a firmware note added after the fact about its keystone correction. Only three days old, it is the video drawing the most traffic on the channel right now, while September's mini record players keep turning quietly in the background.
