A hacked channel, a Kansas City barbecue and Mount Rushmore for Tay and Pop

The couple lost access to their channel more than 1,200 miles from home, got it back, and kept driving toward South Dakota.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

We Lost EverythingWe Lost Everything

"We Lost Everything" is the week's most watched upload on TayBrice, the cooking, travel and DIY channel of Tay and her husband, known to viewers as Pop. It opens in South Dakota with a hard update: for a few frightening days the couple had no access to their own channel. By the third minute the good news arrives. According to the description, YouTube and Google helped them recover everything.

Then the video rewinds to the road trip it interrupted: Joe's Kansas City Bar-B-Que, billed as some of the best barbecue they have ever had, an unexpected RV repair, and a drive through Iowa to an Omaha dinner and a Nebraska sunset. The comments are mostly a roll call of people saying they never left. Many mention Pop's tears, and several had no idea anything was wrong until they watched.

Part 2 fills in the rest: a flooded gray tank, a tour of the Omaha KOA, steaks at Round the Bend, and the moment the hack hit, 1,200 miles from home. They chose to keep going, and the episode ends on the Presidential Trail at Mount Rushmore. The barbecue and the trailer repair also got videos of their own.

The newest upload, "I wanna go home…", is now the busiest thing on the channel, gathering views at several times the pace of the first hack video. The whole channel is running well above its usual daily views, and among the travel channels nearest its size only Expedia is moving faster right now. Older road footage is still drawing viewers too: "Hooking Up and Hauling the Travel Trailer", from twelve days ago, has passed 700,000 views.
