A drawer-bound Code-a-Pillar reaches StezStix Fix?'s repair bench

George's donated Fisher-Price toy powers up but won't move, after spending years tucked away.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

One toy, plenty to investigate. StezStix Fix?'s only new upload tackles a Fisher-Price caterpillar with an awkward fault: it switches on, but goes nowhere. George, who sent it to Steve, says it had spent five years in a family drawer.

"This Fisher-Price Code-a-Pillar Powers Up… But Won't Move" has drawn about 135,000 views and is the channel's busiest video right now. The comments offer a particularly good reason to linger over a repair: viewers want Steve to keep talking through his thinking, including the uncertain bits. One also singles out his excitement when the toy finally turns around and heads back. Another remembers owning a programmable Big Trak decades ago, complete with a dumping trailer. A small caterpillar has opened quite a toy cupboard.

The other active repairs have their own stories of disuse and disruption. "Faulty NOCO Boost Won't Charge | Can I FIX It?" concerns Pete's car jump starter, reportedly left in a shed for a couple of years. "This Little WiFi Disc Took Down the Whole Bar" tackles a failed BT mesh unit that Steve says interrupted the bar's Wi-Fi. Both continue drawing viewers, though the caterpillar is attracting substantially more daily viewing.

Subscribers stayed unchanged over the week, while the channel added roughly 341,000 views. Its current daily viewing is below its usual pace. Among nearby gadget channels, Monitors Unboxed had a substantially larger viewing week; StezStix Fix? drew more weekly views than Action Retro and Adrian's Digital Basement. Here, the week's new work was neither a monitor nor a vintage computer, but a toy that needed help getting out of the drawer and moving again.

What viewers say

  • That toy is adorable. Also, ALWAYS BLABBER. Hearing a repair person's thought process out loud, even when they're just looking something over, provides context. It doesn't matter if you're wrong or right; it's the process and the path that provide the knowledge. Great repair!
  • Back in 1979/80 I bought a "Big Trak" vehicle thing. It was programmable via a keyboard on the top, it had reverse movements as well. Plus there was an add-on dumping trailer (dump was programmable). Great little toy. I still have the truck/vehicle.

  • It's amazing the advanced toys pre-school children can enjoy these days. When I was in that age group, 50 odd years ago, I was given a piece of string and an egg box, by my mother. She told me to use my imagination.
