'We Know The Way', live with Ngawai Campbell and a string section, for Stan Walker

The Moana song he covered with Dinah Jane for a Disney tribute album now has a home-grown live version, ahead of his symphonic shows around Aotearoa.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

"Stan Walker - We Know The Way (Live)" is the Moana anthem done the way he plans to tour it: band, backing singers, four strings and a conductor. In the description, Walker says he first covered the song with his "sis" Dinah Jane for Moana: Voices Across the Ocean, and that singing it live with his own team makes him proud to be from the Pacific. The track was written for Disney's 2016 film by Lin-Manuel Miranda with Opetaia Foa'i, the Samoan-born leader of Te Vaka, who sings on the original.

He saves his loudest thanks for his cousin Ngawai Campbell ("you are a force"), and she got her own clip the same day, a short cut with that line as its title.

The live video passed 45,000 views in a week. In the comments, people keep pointing at the bassist, ask for the recording on Spotify, and several say they are seeing him in a couple of weeks.

Those shows are what the whole shelf points toward. Live versions of "Kāinga/Home", the single he calls a love letter to his children, and "Family Tree" are still finding listeners, and a gospel performance, "The Lord Is My Light", arrived at the end of the week. His about text says Auckland is sold out and a Wellington date has been added.

About a thousand new subscribers came along. Among the pop and R&B channels nearest his size, only The Hound + The Fox drew more views over the seven days.
