Jalon Daniels Gets His First Win, and His Mom Gets the Mic | NFL on Prime

Jalon Daniels had barely sat down at the Thursday Night Football desk when he called his mother, Star, down from the stands to join him. The undrafted rookie quarterback had just won his first NFL game, 24-16 over the Cowboys, and she called the moment "indescribable."

The full postgame segment from Prime Video's TNF Nightcap drew about 45,000 views in its first 23 hours, more than twenty times what a regular video on this channel usually manages on day one. The comments moved even faster: more than a hundred, where two is a normal first day.

There is plenty of football in it. Daniels walks through an 11-minute drive and his connection with Baker Mayfield and offensive coordinator Zac Robinson. Then he explains a line he had used before: a thermostat sets the temperature, a thermometer only reads it. Vita Vea, a Super Bowl winner with Tampa Bay, describes a players-only meeting he calls "one of those come to Jesus moments" and a defense that treats five yards a run as too much.

The ending belongs to the family. Charissa Thompson reads what Star taught her son: "Son, you never lose. You either win or you learn." The comments are full of Kansas fans welcoming back their former college quarterback, and even a few Cowboys fans saying they are happy for him.

The channel has since cut the thermostat answer and the Mayfield shoutout into Shorts of their own.
