The War with Grandpa (2020) | Grandpa vs Grandson! 😂- 4k Edit#shorts #movierecap
A grandfather, not a mutant. Sona Darus, a recap and commentary channel whose team cuts films into short, quick retellings, posted a Short from The War with Grandpa, and within 11 hours it had close to 380,000 views. A new Short here usually ends its entire first day at around 27,000.
The change of genre is what stands out. The channel's recent shelf is mostly superheroes: Iceman billed as "Omega-Level for a Reason" has passed a million views, and Kitty Pryde walking through walls and Cyborg showing off his tech came close behind. The grandpa Short arrives while the channel as a whole is running at about half its usual daily pace.
The film is a gentler kind of fight. Peter, played by Oakes Fegley, has to give up his bedroom when his grandfather Ed, played by Robert De Niro, moves in, and he declares war to get it back. The description promises prank after prank before the two end up understanding each other. Tim Hill directed it, Uma Thurman plays Peter's mother, and Christopher Walken, Cheech Marin and Jane Seymour play Ed's friends. Shot years earlier, it only reached theaters in October 2020.
Those friends are what the comments talk about most. Many viewers ask why grandpa has his own gang, and others say they should have recognized Cheech Marin's voice. One running joke follows grandpa's pants, which keep losing the battle. A few viewers think that hiding a snake in someone's bed goes past the limit of a fair prank.
