Zoro brings three swords to Sona Darus' One Piece edit

The live-action swordsman's fast-starting compilation has viewers comparing scenes with the anime and picking up on Luffy's comic timing.

Zoro wants an apology before he wants a duel. After Helmeppo knocks a girl's rice balls onto the floor, the swordsman eats one himself, praises her cooking and tells the intruder to make amends. The brawl follows shortly afterward.

That mix of courtesy and menace opens Sona Darus' new One Piece Short, which reached roughly 333,000 views in eight hours. Its early pace is far above the clips channel's usual Shorts start. This is a fan-edited compilation of the live-action series, not a new installment of the show.

Played by Mackenyu, Roronoa Zoro moves from fighting Marines with his scabbards to putting a sword in his mouth for his distinctive three-sword style. The edit also includes his test of the cursed Sandai Kitetsu blade and his challenge to Dracule Mihawk outside the Baratie restaurant. Mihawk initially answers all that ambition with a tiny dagger.

The comments follow two different threads. Several viewers compare the live-action scenes with their anime counterparts, particularly the sword-shop encounter. Others keep returning to Luffy's observation when he discovers where Zoro's third sword goes. Amid the blade tossing and dueling, it's a small moment of pirate bewilderment that gives viewers a joke to carry away.
