The most watched new video on Sky News since yesterday is a full edition of The Wrap, its late-night discussion show. It drew about 20,000 views in its first two hours.
Presenter Gillian Joseph opens with Meghan, Duchess of Sussex. Sky's earlier report describes a police investigation in the Philippines into claims that her father, Thomas Markle, kept child sexual abuse images at his home. He has denied the allegations. Royal correspondent Laura Bundock reads from Meghan's statement, in which she says she is "deeply distressed at the news that has come to light in the last 24 hours." She says keeping her distance from her father, and not allowing him contact with her children, was "to protect them." Bundock notes that the Metropolitan Police were informed in 2018, and the panel, journalist Susie Boniface and commentator Benedict Spence, asks why inquiries stalled for eight years.
The program's second story has had far less attention elsewhere. The White House has announced a localized ceasefire in Oleshky, a Russian-occupied city in southern Ukraine, and credits Melania Trump with securing it. Chief correspondent Stuart Ramsay reports from near the city, where an elderly resident, speaking with a disguised voice, describes extreme hunger and people boiling weeds to survive. "If we are not liberated before the winter," the resident says, "people will die because of frost and hunger."
Donald Trump appears in a clip praising his wife's effort: "What she wants to do is save children and that's her focus." Back in the studio, the panel discusses the diplomatic optics and possible political motives ahead of the US midterms.
The edition closes with Storm Austen's damage to Brighton's West Pier, amber warnings for Storm Bulo and Prime Minister Andy Burnham's call for households to be prepared for emergencies.
