- 0:09The parody credits Denzel Washington with elevating Antoine Fuqua and David Ayer's crime thriller.
- 1:08Alonzo Harris combines corruption and intimidation with a charisma the narration finds difficult to resist.
- 2:24Jake Hoyt's nervous demeanor, distinctive laugh and repeated physical punishment become the next targets.
- 3:48Alonzo's debt to the Russian mob supplies the underlying motive for his elaborate day of manipulation.
- 5:30A parody credit roll assigns comic names to the film's characters, actors and familiar tropes.
Alonzo Harris is terrible company, but Denzel Washington makes him difficult to look away from. That tension gives Screen Junkies its way into "Honest Trailers | Training Day": a parody that finds plenty to pick apart without pretending its central performance is an easy target.
Jon Bailey narrates the return to Antoine Fuqua's 2001 thriller, written by David Ayer. Washington's corrupt detective gets the charisma treatment, while Ethan Hawke's rookie Jake Hoyt gets a catalog of nervous laughter and physical punishment. Later, the trailer untangles the debt to the Russian mob beneath Alonzo's elaborate day of manipulation. Viewers are discussing that same imbalance: several frame Washington's performance as something even Honest Trailers struggles to puncture, while others single out the Los Angeles and character-name jokes.
The anniversary upload has reached roughly 616,000 views and is the channel's busiest video right now. The week's other substantial arrival, "Honest Interview | Liam F#&!%ing Neeson," pairs Neeson with his longtime stunt double and director for The Mongoose. Its accompanying clips ask whether Neeson has leased a Nissan and which of his characters would survive an all-character confrontation. Serious screen presence, deliberately unserious questions.
Screen Junkies added about two million views across its catalog over seven days, with subscribers unchanged. Daily viewing is currently above its usual pace; nearby film-commentary channel New Rockstars is also having an above-usual viewing day, while How It Should Have Ended is quieter than normal. Last week's "Honest Trailers | Spider-Man: Brand New Day" remains the third-busiest upload on Screen Junkies, behind the new Training Day trailer and Neeson interview.
