Tiger will NOT BE EUTHANISED after fatal attack on man at Yorkshire Wildlife Park
Yorkshire Wildlife Park received many inquiries about Altai, the Amur tiger involved in Saturday's fatal attack, before issuing an update on Sunday. The park said the animal was safe and well and would not be euthanized.
The Daily Record's report follows the death of a man who entered the tiger enclosure at the park near Doncaster. South Yorkshire Police said he was pronounced dead at the scene and that his family had been informed. Emergency services had been contacted shortly after he entered the enclosure.
The park also said staff were deeply affected by the incident and were receiving specialist support. Its statement addressed both the animal's condition and the impact on the people who work there.
The update drew about 44,000 views in its first ten hours, already well beyond the few thousand a regular Daily Record video usually receives across a full first day. The unusually busy comment section focused largely on the decision not to euthanize Altai.
