A mom's storm-damaged house, restored, passes seven million for Rudan Brothers

No new uploads went up, and a 24-day-old restoration video is drawing far more each day than anything else on the roofing channel.

Mom Cries Seeing Her House Restored After A Big Storm

What does a channel built on free roofs do when it posts nothing new? It lets an old one keep giving.

"Mom Cries Seeing Her House Restored After A Big Storm" went up a little over three weeks ago and has passed seven million views. It is still the busiest thing on Rudan Brothers by a wide margin, gathering roughly four times the daily views of the next video in line. The premise is the one the channel's about text promises: a family, a damaged home, and a crew that shows up to fix it without sending a bill.

Behind it sits a summer story with the same shape: "Grandpa Cries Seeing His Home Restored for the First Time in 30 Years," three months old and past eight million. Further back, "Asking Strangers To Transform Their BROKEN House.. For FREE" has climbed beyond twelve and a half million, the channel's door-knocking idea in its plainest form.

With no uploads at all, the channel is still running well above its usual daily pace. Among the DIY and home channels nearest it in size, Eoin Reardon is having the big stretch, close to double his usual daily views, and MatthiasWandel is running at several times his own normal level from a much smaller base. John Malecki is quieter than usual. Rudan Brothers sits fifth of nine by subscribers, at about 1.8 million.

With Canadian Thanksgiving less than two weeks off, a story about family and home fits the season. For this channel, though, the storm-damaged house would be the busiest video in almost any month.
