Rank Dawg adds frog noises to its animal countdowns
The clips channel has added nearly a quarter to its subscriber count in a week, with carnivorous plants among its most-watched recent subjects.
Why this story? The channel went from 280,000 to 347,000 subscribers this week.
Rank Dawg has added 67,000 subscribers in seven days, growing by nearly a quarter while its countdowns wander from penguin moments to carnivorous plants. The channel's animal world has room for more than dogs, despite the name.
Its latest frog-noise ranking is off to an unusually quick start: it drew about 109,000 views in ten hours, already well beyond what a usual Rank Dawg Short gets in a full first day. It follows a plant compilation that has reached millions of views since its release last week.
These are edited compilations of other people's footage, rather than animal encounters filmed by Rank Dawg. The channel describes its work as selecting clips, arranging their order and adding captions, sound design and graphics to build each countdown.
That formula also runs through its most-watched Shorts: wet animals, dogs reacting to ice cubes and pets looking almost like superheroes. The frog entry gives the ranking treatment to sounds rather than appearances.
