  1. 0:42In the box: the phone, a braided USB-C cable and paperwork noting eSIM support.
  2. 1:11Hardware tour: no Action button, Touch ID back on the side button, the camera bump and the hinge.
  3. 3:17Screen transitions, a crease he can barely feel, and the 1:√2 aspect ratio explained.
  4. 5:46Touch ID speed and settings tested, plus the under-display front camera.
  5. 10:41Weather, Reddit, Netflix, Instagram and TikTok tested for multitasking and how well they fit the folding screen.
  6. 14:35Side-by-side with the iPhone Air, iPhone 18 Pro, Pro Max and Galaxy Z Fold 8; the Duo is heavier than the Fold.

How much of a crease does Apple's first folding iPhone have? Tim Schofield runs a finger over the Star White iPhone Duo and gives his answer: "Apple did a really, really good job with this crease. You can barely feel it."

There is a little history in that moment. The most-watched video on his channel is still a 2013 clip of Samsung announcing its Youm flexible OLED displays at CES, a glimpse of bendable screens years before anyone could buy one. More than a decade later, he is opening the box on Apple's version.

As we reported here, his Galaxy Z Fold 8 review ended with an iPhone Duo unboxing promised next. Now it is here, and it has drawn nearly 100,000 views in 17 hours, roughly twenty times what his videos usually manage in a whole first day. A short teaser and a speed test came first, the second uploaded over Starlink while he was on a United flight.

The full video spends much of its 21 minutes on the small things that decide how a phone feels to use. "Touch ID is back; we'll really test that out," he says, and he does, checking the side-mounted sensor's speed and its settings. Then he opens Weather, Reddit, Netflix, Instagram and TikTok to see what familiar apps do with all that extra screen, the part many viewers single out in the comments.

He lines the Duo up against the iPhone Air, the iPhone 18 Pro and Pro Max, and the Fold 8 he reviewed weeks earlier. His verdict on that last pairing is plain: "The Duo is definitely heavier than the Galaxy Z Fold 8."

The ending belongs to the accessories. After trying Apple's two official cases, Schofield shows that the phone needs neither to stand up. Fold it partway into a tent and StandBy mode switches on, with the clock and calendar on display.

  • As an alternative to the volume buttons you can just swipe the control and alter the volume rather than trying to reach the volume buttons at the top! I can't wait to receive my duo tomorrow! Great video!😊

  • Apple was late, but did it better than any other folding phone. That animation when changing screens and lack of crease is impressive

  • I’m so used to Face ID unlocking and swiping up I didn’t realize you had to swipe up to get into my phone until you pointed it out. It’s just 2nd nature to me lol.
