Stairs, it turns out, beat blocks. "I Found The Longest Scary Giant Stairs…" went up on Saturday and gathered views more than twice as fast on its first day as "Minecraft but Dying is OP!" managed on its own opening day. Barely a day old, it is already close to half a million views.
The Minecraft video, from Thursday, has settled into a calmer rhythm after its brisk start, and it has company at that speed. "PrestonPlayz Faked His Death in Minecraft!" is eight days old, past one and a half million views, and still moving at almost the same daily clip as its three-day-old successor. Two videos about dying in Minecraft, a week apart, pulling side by side.
Among the Minecraft creators, PrestonPlayz sits second of nine by subscribers, behind Aphmau. Maizen is only a sliver below, close enough that the two channels are practically sharing a step.
