Video taking off 5.6x its usual first day

Likeability, not league position: Pitch Side ranks all twenty Premier League clubs

Each host brings his own list, and viewers spent the comments checking one panelist's history of 1990s transfer spending.

Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 160,683 views a day, 5.6 times a normal first day on this channel (28,620).

RANKING Every Premier League Club 1–20 By Likeability!RANKING Every Premier League Club 1–20 By Likeability!

"RANKING Every Premier League Club 1–20 By Likeability!" puts the league table aside. Forget points and goal difference: the hosts of Pitch Side, the football podcast that Theo, Reev and Tom bill as the UK's number one, sort the twenty clubs by a softer and far more arguable measure, which ones they actually like.

Twelve hours after it went up, the episode had passed 110,000 views, several times what a new full episode here usually gathers in an entire first day. It arrived a day after the Manchester City episode that predicted where every City player would end up, as we reported here, and that one has kept climbing past 220,000. Between them, the two have the whole channel running well ahead of its usual daily pace, while the shorter clips posted around them, from Foden to Barcelona to a Ronaldo rant, stayed far smaller.

A ranking by likeability was always going to start arguments, and the comment section continues them. Viewers point out that Tom admitted a long middle stretch of his list could go in almost any order, and that Theo then took issue with nearly every position on it anyway.

The panelist the comments call Lewis draws the most attention. Some viewers single out his description of how Arsenal fans behave. Others take on his case that City's spending is no different from Manchester United's in the 1990s, and several go off to dig up old transfer totals for Newcastle, Chelsea and United to answer it. One more catches him dismissing Crystal Palace as no threat, a club that has won the FA Cup.
