Street Fighter's cast steps out from behind the character portraits

Paramount's premiere clip pairs arcade faces with red-carpet arrivals, including Cody Rhodes, Roman Reigns and 50 Cent.

Why this story? The video opened at a pace of 292,695 views a day, 12 times a normal first day on this channel (24,173).

The phone drops. Behind each Street Fighter character portrait is the actor bringing that fighter to the screen, dressed for a premiere rather than a tournament.

That simple reveal gives Paramount Pictures' promotional Short its rhythm: Ken winks and sticks out his tongue, Chun-Li flashes peace signs, and Guile poses in a sharp suit with the unmistakable blond hair. The clip drew roughly 300,000 views in its first day, about twelve times the channel's usual opening for Shorts.

Part of the pleasure is matching familiar faces across very different worlds. Wrestling stars Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns play Guile and Akuma, while 50 Cent takes Balrog. Orville Peck, playing Vega, appears masked and wearing a cowboy hat. The phone-sized character artwork makes each introduction a quick comparison between arcade design and red-carpet personality.

The unusually busy comments section follows those connections. Viewers discuss Dhalsim and Zangief's casting, pick out Balrog, and revisit how the 1994 film handled Ryu and Ken. One running joke imagines the absent Ryu skipping the photos to keep training.

Paramount also has a fast-starting companion upload, "Bloopers Between Rounds of Street Fighter (2026 Movie)." Its description supplies the story behind the lineup: estranged fighters Ryu and Ken are recruited by Chun-Li for a World Warrior Tournament, with Kitao Sakurai directing the arcade adaptation.

  • Worth remembering the 1994 film turned Ryu and Ken into small-time con men orbiting Van Damme's Guile. Having Andrew Koji and Noah Centineo play them as actual fighters, with Cody Rhodes taking over Guile, already feels a lot closer to the games.
