From 3-0 down to a second World Grand Prix: Luke Humphries in Leicester

The final rematched the 2023 decider against Gerwyn Price, and the PDC closed its week with a short of Humphries embracing his family.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

How did Luke Humphries win his second World Grand Prix? Slowly at first. Gerwyn Price went 3-0 up in the final in Leicester, and Humphries then took six of the next seven sets to win 6-4. The Professional Darts Corporation's "STORMING TO A SECOND TITLE" final highlights went past 160,000 views in their first day, and a short reel of the comeback plus a clip of Humphries hugging family and friends came straight after it.

The tournament gave the channel a highlights package every night. Each one opened somewhere near 170,000 to 215,000 views in its first day, and the semi-final reel, billed as "HISTORY MADE," is now the week's most watched. Its commenters keep returning to Humphries's throw. A good number of them also say James Wade pushed him all the way in that semi, while Price, the Welshman who won this event in 2021, came through against Nathan Aspinall. One viewer notes it was the same final as 2023, which Humphries also won.

Across the whole channel, views ran below their usual daily level, about 3.4 million over the week, and around a thousand subscribers joined. That put the PDC in the middle of its group of golf, cricket and other sports channels. DP World Tour and the snooker channel WST both had bigger weeks, even though each was below its own usual pace.
