A library ladder might sound like an indulgence in a small apartment. In Rosie Dart's West London home, it earns its place beside a floor-to-ceiling bookcase, giving her access to storage while fulfilling a design wish of her own.
Her tour is the week's most-watched new upload on NEVER TOO SMALL, and the channel's busiest video right now. Since we first featured the apartment, it has passed half a million views. The birch plywood shelving, built with House of Lozi, makes room for both possessions and personality. Dart's film-and-television background shows in the Wes Anderson influences, vintage finds and carefully chosen colors, rather than in an attempt to make everything disappear.
Viewers are picking out similarly personal details: the checkerboard kitchen tiles, an old television used for white noise and light, and the clothing hanger associated with Simone Giertz. Others are debating the premise itself: does this much space count as small for someone living alone? The split-level layout has also prompted a neat variation on the channel's name: Never Too Tall.
Across nine uploads, the week kept returning to what furniture needs to do when floor space is precious. Casa Gialla, designed by gon architects, supplies a concealed kitchen island and an outdoor lounge that doubles as a bath. Urban planner Alex Antoniadis questions the need for a permanent dining table, while another upload considers compact homes for families.
The channel added 10,000 subscribers over the week, although daily views are currently below their usual pace. Older features have momentum too: the Japanese home with deliberately recessed floor spaces and Anthony Aoun's open-plan Paris apartment remain among its busiest uploads. Between them and Dart's ladder, the channel has offered several very different answers to the same problem: where everything goes.
