Isaias brings destructive memories to the Jersey Shore
The shore story drew attention. NBC10 Philadelphia's "Isaias brings destructive memories to the Jersey Shore" reached about 42,000 views in its first six hours, making it the most watched of the station's new uploads this week.
Jersey Shore Bureau reporter Ted Greenberg connects Hurricane Isaias with residents' memories of a different storm bearing that name six years earlier. The report brings a local perspective to the weather coverage: a storm name can recall destruction people have already experienced, not just conditions they are watching develop.
NBC10 posted fifteen videos across the week, with much of its other coverage focused on difficult Philadelphia news. Aaron Baskerville reported on a fatal barricade situation aboard a SEPTA bus, while the station's investigators examined the prior acquittal of the man accused of killing a Philadelphia police officer. Valeria Aponte Feliciano's NBC10 Responds report turned to deed fraud, explaining how property theft can target older residents and how to prevent and report it.
The channel gained nearly two million views over seven days and added subscribers, although its current daily viewing is well below its usual level. Among nearby-sized local-news channels, CBS Pittsburgh had a larger weekly view gain and is seeing above-usual daily viewing. NBC10's strongest current momentum remains with Greenberg's Jersey Shore report, well beyond the smaller audiences for its bus-barricade updates.
