Philly DA announces charges for gunman accused of killing police officer, injuring another

Officer Shane Seiber was killed and another Philadelphia officer was wounded in a West Philadelphia shooting, NBC10 reports. The station's coverage has followed both the criminal case and the community's response to the officer's death.

At a Saturday afternoon press conference, District Attorney Larry Krasner announced charges against the man accused of killing Seiber, injuring a second officer and firing at nine others. NBC10's upload of that announcement drew about 32,000 views in seven hours, far beyond the audience its regular videos usually reach on their first day.

In a separate report, Johnny Archer covered the charges, which include murder and attempted homicide of law enforcement. The station also carried the police commissioner's identification of Seiber and footage of a procession held for him.

Andrew Rowan's reporting turned to South Philadelphia's Faith and Blue Community Walk. The gathering, which brought together law enforcement, faith leaders and residents, became an occasion to honor the fallen officer after the overnight shooting.
