  1. 2:11A lioness guides her three male cubs through wetlands where crocodiles hide.
  2. 7:35The grown brothers approach a pride of six lionesses, beginning their transition from nomads to pride males.
  3. 14:22Wind and choppy water hinder the impalas' sense of smell, giving hunting lionesses an opening.
  4. 22:18Lionesses swim across channels to reach buffalo hunting grounds while the males patrol the pride's borders.
  5. 28:38A mother hippo charges at stalking lionesses and escapes into the lake with her calf.

An impala caught by Takunda becomes more than a meal: sharing it with a dominant lioness helps mark his acceptance into her pride. Nat Geo Animals' most watched new upload makes belonging as important as hunting, following three male brothers as they try to establish themselves along Lake Kariba.

"Lion Survival in African Wilderness (Full Episode) | The Lakeshore Killers | Nat Geo Animals" has drawn roughly 94,000 views. Takunda, Gwamway and Zindoga grow from cubs following their mother through dangerous wetlands into nomads approaching a pride of six lionesses. The lake keeps changing the terms. Lionesses swim between hunting grounds, crocodiles contest food, and a protective hippo sends a hunting party into retreat.

Viewers are talking about that shifting balance between land and water, as well as the brothers' early departure from their original pride. One Zimbabwean viewer also singles out the pleasure of hearing Shona names. Another makes room for the less urgent footage: simply seeing the lions go about their day.

Five uploads filled the week. Boone Smith tracks and radio-collars Rocky Mountain cougars in "American Cougar: Revealed (Full Episode) | DOCUMENTARY SPECIAL | Nat Geo Animals," while the other longer releases explore nocturnal dangers and bring together Brady Barr's bayou encounters, toxic jungle creatures and bears.

The channel added about 4.3 million views over seven days, with subscribers unchanged and daily viewing a little below its usual pace. Nearby documentary channels had mixed fortunes: FRONTLINE gained subscribers, while Real Stories' daily viewing was substantially quieter than usual.

The busiest individual episode remains the earlier Hidden Kingdoms of China grasslands documentary. Its Tibetan foxes, pikas and kiang are drawing nearly three times the daily views of the new lion episode, keeping the approach of winter prominent alongside Lake Kariba's shoreline hazards.

  • A peaceful lakeside view sounds like the perfect place to relax, unless you're an antelope and the local lions have other plans. Suddenly that beautiful scenery doesn't seem so peaceful anymore!
