Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

#OFB Double Lz x Bandokay Mad About Bars is 7 years old today 🎂

What does a channel built on UK rap freestyles post when nothing big is out yet? Mixtape Madness looked back. Of its three uploads, all from September 29, the busiest was a birthday card: Double Lz and Bandokay's Mad About Bars session turned seven that day, and the short reminds viewers that the pair belong to OFB, the Tottenham collective that also gave the scene Headie One and Abra Cadabra. The duo's verses helped carry OFB from estate videos into the wider UK drill conversation, and the throwback points fans back to the full session on the channel.

The second short looks forward. "Mkormuni - Next Up? Out Thursday" is a teaser for the newest episode of Next Up?, the series the channel uses to introduce rising names, with the full thing promised for October 1.

The third heads north. Kenzostr8drop's video for "Roads" turned four, and the tags place it firmly in Manchester, a reminder that the channel's map of British rap reaches well beyond London.

None of the three is meant to be a headline act, and the channel's overall audience sat right at its usual level, close to 290,000 views a day. Among the music channels nearest in size, triple j, BBC Radio 1Xtra and Link Up TV are the ones running above their normal pace, while Pressplay Media and Apple Music are quieter than usual. For Mixtape Madness, it was a week of anniversaries with one new freestyle on the way.
