Sepang in seventy days: McLaren's Gemini docuseries arrives in three parts

A Bahrain Grand Prix moved to Malaysia gave the team ten weeks to prepare, and the series follows the logistics, the engineering and the heat training.

Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.

Nearly half a billion lifetime views sit behind McLaren's channel, and the team spent this week adding a story it clearly wanted to tell properly. 70 Days is a multi-part docuseries made with Google Gemini about an unusual problem: the Bahrain Grand Prix, moved to Malaysia's Sepang circuit with only about ten weeks' notice.

The episodes arrived one a day. "Solving Sepang" opened on September 28 with the scramble of simply getting there, and it has passed 140,000 views. "Simulating Sepang" turned to engineering, data and technology. "Scaling Sepang" deals with bodies rather than machines. The description says the move leaves the team facing three back-to-back triple headers, so the episode covers how drivers and staff are being readied for hot, humid conditions. Each new chapter has started faster than the one before, and the newest, only hours old, is drawing views at the quickest clip on the channel.

Fifteen uploads went up in total, and the lighter side got a look in too. One short carries a warning not to give Oscar matcha, a nod to Oscar Piastri.

Among motorsport and two-wheeled channels of a similar size, McLaren sits third by subscribers. Oracle Red Bull Racing, just above it, is running a little busier than usual, as are FortNine and Global Mountain Bike Network, while Bikes and Beards and Enduro KeX are having quieter stretches.
