Kreek's GTA 6 download has an immortal-snail problem

A nearly finished download meets an old internet hypothetical in a sketch drawing more than six times Kreek's usual first-day Shorts views.

When GTA 6 is at 99% 😭

He's almost there. Kreek is staring at a Grand Theft Auto VI download with just seconds remaining when a door creaks open down the hallway. The interruption isn't another player or a connection problem. It's a snail.

"When GTA 6 is at 99% 😭" is a staged comedy sketch, turning the anticipation around the game into an encounter with the immortal-snail meme: the hypothetical bargain in which a person gets a fortune but must forever avoid a pursuing snail whose touch is fatal. Suddenly, a very slow animal presents a very urgent problem.

The Short drew an estimated 400,000 views in its first day. That's a markedly faster start than usual for Kreek's short uploads, following a run of GTA 6 videos about everything from Lucia to taking sick days to play.

Viewers are picking out the immortal-snail reference, but they're also inspecting the pretend download screen. Several comments seize on a girlfriend-simulator detail, while another singles out the game's displayed storage size. Kreek has put the big release within reach, then given his character something considerably smaller to worry about.
