A divided Norman inheritance anchors Kings and Generals' history week
Seven uploads range from William the Conqueror's sons to Buddhist patronage in India and the opening of the Iran-Iraq War.

How William the Conqueror’s Sons Tore England Apart
England for one son, Normandy for another, money for the youngest: William the Conqueror's inheritance makes an unusually consequential family arrangement. Kings and Generals turns its aftermath into the opening chapter of an Anarchy series, and the week's most-watched new upload, with roughly 339,000 views.
"How William the Conqueror's Sons Tore England Apart" follows William Rufus, Robert Curthose and Henry through rebellions, shifting alliances and the eventual reunification of England and Normandy under Henry. Written by Riccardo Dormino and narrated by OffyD, it starts before the later succession crisis usually associated with the Anarchy. The inheritance is the setup, not the whole story.
The Norman Conquest also supplies a shorter, rather different route through history. "How Anglo-Saxons Became the Byzantine Emperor's Bodyguards" follows exiles toward Constantinople and the Varangian Guard. It is among the channel's busiest uploads right now, alongside a new Short about the East India Company's victory at Buxar and its acquisition of taxing powers in Bengal.
Among the longer documentaries, the strongest daily momentum belongs to "Saddam Expected a Quick Victory Against Iran," which examines why Iraq's opening offensive failed to produce the swift collapse Saddam anticipated. Another new documentary explores Buddhism's decline in India through changing royal support, monastery patronage and Hindu traditions. That episode is sponsored by Koei Tecmo.
Across the channel, daily views are about half again as high as usual, although subscribers were unchanged over the week. Nearby history channel Yarnhub had a larger weekly view gain; Kings and Generals itself brought in roughly 4.3 million views, with its new Iran-Iraq War series currently supplying the largest daily audience of any individual upload.
