Josh Johnson remembers giving a report on Huckleberry Finn without having done the reading. In "What A Week For Kelly and Katie," that schoolroom memory becomes his comparison for Katie's delivery at a White House press briefing.

"'Cause she's reading like I read in high school when I didn't do the reading," he says. Rather than staying with the administration's talking points, Johnson builds the routine around the mechanics of getting through them: looking down at notes, finding the next sentence and trying to sound prepared.

Recorded at the Riverside Theatre in Milwaukee, the upload drew an estimated 800,000 views in its first day, far beyond the channel's usual start. Johnson's most-watched regular upload, "Drake VS Kendrick Explained to White People," offers another example of his appetite for turning a sprawling public spectacle into a stand-up story.

Here, the setting keeps changing. Johnson moves from the briefing room to an outdoor press appearance with Trump and a running helicopter, then to questioning about where Katie took the bar exam. Her answer about going to China becomes material for his retelling.

The book-report comparison gives the Washington routine a particularly familiar footing: a microphone, a page of words and the uncomfortable business of being asked to explain yourself.
