Travis Barker's Impala hides modern muscle at Jay Leno's Garage
The Blink-182 drummer's black convertible pairs Dayton wire wheels with an LS3 engine and upgraded brakes.
Why this story? The channel's weekly summary: what went up this week, what is drawing views now, and where the channel stands among similar channels.
Travis Barker’s 1959 Impala Looks Stock Until You Floor It | Jay Leno's Garage
The paint stayed. The engine didn't.
Travis Barker's 1959 Chevrolet Impala retains the finish it wore when he bought it, but the original 348 has made way for a modern LS3. His visit was the biggest new draw of Jay Leno's Garage's ten-upload week, approaching a million views and carrying the strongest daily momentum among the channel's active videos.
The appeal is in the contrast: black-on-black lowrider styling, small Dayton wire wheels and a Continental kit outside, with modern power, Wilwood brakes and air conditioning underneath. Even the steering wheel has been downsized, a change Barker says made the car easier for his wife to turn.
Barker also brings a Fontana childhood into the conversation, recalling his father's Cadillacs and garage drum practice that prompted calls to the police. Viewers are picking up on the exchange as much as the machinery, especially Barker asking Leno questions in return. Others are sharing memories of Southern California lowriders and recognizing the Felix Chevrolet license plate frame.
Donald Osborne supplied a different kind of temptation in "Pick Your Flavor | Assess and Caress with Donald Osborne | Jay Leno's Garage": three generations of Porsche GT3 RS, with manual gearboxes and Mezger engines set against the later car's PDK transmission. The question isn't simply which is quickest, but what collectors value about driving them.
The channel added roughly 3.2 million views while subscribers held steady. Forrest's Auto Reviews had a much larger viewing week among nearby motoring channels; DailyDrivenExotics and Throttle House also drew substantial weekly totals. Back in Leno's garage, the Hudson Hornet's straight-six explainer and a compact jet-engine Short round out the busiest daily viewing alongside Barker's Impala.

I like that Travis was asking Jay questions about him...cool that he did that.
@digidrum2003See it on YouTubeI grew up in L.A. in the 60's and 70's. Lowriders were everywhere, but I was never into them. I was more into hotrods, but I appreciate the work and passion that some folks have for their lowriders. That Impala is beautiful!

I love the look of the ‘59 Chevy. This was tastefully customized. I like everything he’s done with the car.
@MichaelLivingston-meSee it on YouTubeA smile came across my face just seeing the '59 Impala. It's amazing what we used to produce. When in high school late 60's we could tell a new model year car a block away.
